I was experiencing some problems with my video card not being detected and contacted PowerColor support. The response told me to try "flashing my BIOS." I've read up on the topic from multiple sources but right now I need someone who'll answer some of these questions.

1. How do I make a bootable usb device?
2. Is flashing a smooth process or are there risks?
3. If I flash incorrectly, will my motherboard be bricked?

1. Use THIS to create a bootable usb device.
2. There are always risks when flashing bios/drivers, but they are minimal if you follow the directions.
3. Possible - usually happens if you interrupt the flash (turn off the power, etc.)

Look on the MSI website to see if your bios is current. If there is a newer version, check the notes to see what fixes it incorporates.

Which powercolor card do you have, and what was your previous card?

Hey, thanks for the reply, Mark. I currently am using a Radeon HD7870 Myst card. This is a new build so there was no previous card.

Are you able to boot and use video with onboard graphics?

Can you provide us with system info for your rig, please? Make/model of m/b, cpu, psu; bios version.

Did you connect both the 4pin ATX connector near the cpu socket and the 2 6pin PEGS to the gpu?

1. Yes, I can boot just fine with onboard graphics.
2. I'm using Windows 8 64bit, a msi b75ma-p45 motherboard with BIOS 2 version E7798IMS V1.3, ME version 8.0.10.1464, a Rosewill Hive 550W 80W PSU and a i5-3470 intel processor.
3. All of the power connectors are hooked up including the ones you listed.

Once you install yumi, navigate the drop down with the distro list - there should be an option for a windows 7 iso. Just navigate to where you downloaded the iso on your pc and click select.

If there is no option for windows, there will be an option like "install an iso not on the list".

Sorry, Mark, but I'm not very knowledgeable at this kind of stuff. There is an option in the distribution list for Windows Vista/7/8 and I have selected it, but I do not understand where to go from there. What is the ISO file and where can I find it because I do not recall downloading any ISO file. I have a CD with Windows 8 on it - is it in there?

Hey, Mark. I purchased Windows 8 from a retailer and the notes say I can't use that key. I've been looking around for an hour on how to get that .ISO file; is there anything you suggest I do?

Update:

Okay, I managed to get the .ISO file and create the bootable USB. Where do I copy my BIOS files?
