On Sunday my bf was using his Samsung r530 laptop as usual, his 14 year old son went on, came off and then 90% of the letters on the keyboard will not work only the numbers and everything else works, the laptop starts up Samsung recovery and we have restored the laptop to 2010 and its still not corrected this, I'm thinking something is affecting the computer but we are not very technical when it comes to fixing computer issues. Any advice would help us massively.

If you restored it, it wouldn't be something software based, like a virus.

Which means it's something hardware based, and from the sounds of it, it sounds like liquid was spilled in the keyboard and it shorted out. You can have it replaced, which can cost a bit, or just connect a cheap USB keyboard to it.

Make sure your keyboard is clean from dust, dirt, etc.. Then go to your system preferences and select speech, then text to speech at the top, uncheck "Speak selected text". Go ahead and try that.
