Okay guy's, here's a question I have struggled to find information on, If a client want's me to build them a custom PC and they live in the USA(I'm UK) How would the currency work? Would it really have to cost them about $500 for a GPU that costs me £300? Effectively making the PC double the price they can get it for?

Unless you want to sell at a loss and lose your shirt, you have to charge whatever you can get the parts for.

The customer is free to buy elsewhere if he feels the price is too much.

Ah so no way to equal it out then? I mean it's like singularity computers, he builds for clients worldwide, it must cost them a fortune!

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking here, but £300 currently converts to ~$465. It looks like both the 7970 and 670 cost more in the UK than they do in the US. Why that is I couldn't tell you.

So you have a customer in the US who is coming to you (based in the UK) and asking you to build and ship them a custom gaming PC? Is there any particular reason they are coming to you? I'm sure there will also be additional customs costs for shipping the PC over to wherever they are in the US...

It all depends on your suppliers. Whatever you can get the stuff for, plus shipping, plus labor, plus, other overhead, plus profit.
Now add in shipping out to the customer. There's your price.

If you have to buy from somewhere more expensive, well....that sucks.

I guess you guys are right, I a just have to find what's cheaper for me, and if the client doesn't like the prices, then they have to go elsewhere, and they want me to build them one due to my custom Acrylic loops and case mods.

If that's why they are coming to you then they are probably ok with the price premium. There are plenty of US companies that do custom designs like that so they must have seen something from you that they liked. Do you have a website with some of your past designs? I'm curious to see your work.

There ya go. That's your niche, and price premium.
