Hi All,

First of all, many thanks for your answers in getting me as far as I've gotten on a pretty successful home theater project. This question is a variation on one I researched but unique enough that I felt it needed its own thread.

I recently got an HTPC with the following bits:

i5 2500k on a Z68 mobo
16 GB RAM
SSD and HDD
Windows 7
nVidia GTX 660 card (just upgraded from HD 7750)

Right now it is set up with the HDMI port on the card going to an HDTV and one of the DVI ports going through an HDMI converter cable to an auxiliary monitor. When the latter is in use by itself we have a pair of USB IR headphones. The notion is that my wife can play a game on the PC and I can catch a ballgame on the TV.

The issue is sound. I chose the headphones (Logitech G930) as the default audio device just to be sure it worked. It did but it kills the audio to the TV. Running through the control panel to switch back is a chore -- especially when the resolution is high and the print is very small. There is a long list of audio drivers between the onboard Intel, new nVidia and new Logitech options. I could uninstall the Intels but they aren't the issue.

I'd like to know if there is an easy way to switch from TV speakers to headphones without having to go through the control panel. Maybe a hot-key or sticking an icon in the tray that flips from one to the other with a single click. Even better would be to default to the headphones when they are on and go to the television when they aren't.

Your thoughts are appreciated, sh

PS For extra credit, last night I put the spare HD7750 card in the machine I'm using now and just noticed the "l's" and "i's" in both lower and upper case are green while the rest of the print is black. I kept blinking and it didn't get better. That is on the HDMI 1080p monitor in a two monitor set-up. Moving it to the smaller monitor on DVI, all the letters are black. I'll google it but chances are most answers are right here at Tom's!
