Ok sorry if this is a long question. Hi everyone and thanks for any replies. I just built my new gaming rig. Specs are:

Motherboard - MSI 970A-G43
CPU - AMD FX 6350
PSU - Corsair builder series 600
GPU - PNY GTX 660 TI
Ram - 8gb g. skill ripjaws (1600)
HDD - Old 500gb Western digital

Ok so Everything is new except the HDD. I took it out of my old pc. My problem is that the pc will randomly freeze. Even at idle. Im getting temps on my cpu of 12-19c at idle and 40-50c full load. My gpu temps are 30-35c idle and 60-70c full load. But it's kind of weird because in my bios it says cpu is at like 55c. Anyways I doubt its overheating that's causing it. Also since I have alot of spare parts hanging around i've tried swapping things to pin point it. I swapped out my ram sticks with some other g. skill I have and it still freezes randomly.

I tried swapping out the Power supply with an old 520w Dynex and still it freezes.

I've even swapped video cards for a radeon hd 7850 and it still freezes.

So i was messing with it earlier and noticed that the cpu heatsink wasn't all the way tightened down earlier and when I went to pull it off and re-seat it, it pulled the cpu off with it. So I broke the cpu free from the heatsink and noticed some pins were bent. I bent them back and it fit right back onto the mobo just fine and booted up.

I also set the ram timings in the bios and still no luck. Someone help me out please im going crazy.

Did you reinstall the OS after putting the HDD into the new PC?

No, I bought another HDD so I wouldn't have to format that one but I haven't put it in yet. Do you think its the hd?

Yes, it's likely.

You should always re-install windows when transferring a HDD from one PC to another.

Also with new mb check the bios rev of the mb. If it been sitting in a wear house for a few months it may be missing bios patches. On the old hard drive run hdtune see if there any smart warnings. Also run vendor test tool on the drive.

Ok I unplugged the old Hard Drive and plugged in the new Hitachi 500gb. I installed Windows 7 and while I was getting all my old programs set up it locked up again. Like I said, I've already set Ram timings in Bios and I've eliminated the Ram sticks, PSU and Video card. And all of my drivers are updated. Im lost.

Is The mb bios up to date??? Check your CPU temps make sure the CPU cooler on right. If the temps are fine see if someone has anther power supply. Yours may when loaded and warms up has a bad part and is dropping below atx spec.

Yes my mb bios is up to date. Read my original post. CPU temps are good in CPUID Hwmonitor. But its weird because when I'm in bios it shows CPU temp at 53c and that's kinda high. I've already tried swapping the power supply with the same issues. It locks up even at idle so It doesn't have to do with a load on anything.

Could be bad ram stick or an issue with mb and ram. Pull one stick see if it locks up. Run memtest on the ram. See if amd has a CPU test program to see if the issue your CPU. Try Running prime95 and other CPU tests to see if they lock up.

Ok I got it now. The MSI utility I was using to download the bios drivers wasn't working so the drivers weren't actually updating. As soon as I got the drivers updated it stopped freezing. Thanks for the help
