Hi,

I recently bought a Sapphire Radeon 7770 for an HP Envy H8 1410 that I also bought. I've replaced the stock PSU with a 500W, but something is wrong with my card. I installed my card into the motherboard, connected the 6 - pin connecter from the PSU, connected the DVI cable to the graphics card from my monitor and I thought everything was ready to go. But as soon as I turn on the computer the fan from the graphics card spins at 100% full speed and no display shows up. I let it run like that for 10 mins but it just kept spinning at full speed and nothing showed up on my monitor. I've now pulled out the card and am back on integrated graphics.

What could be wrong with it? Did I not enable something that I was supposed to? Is my card dead? Help!

So your motherboard has the appropriate expansion slots, I would re-install the card and see if anything changes. if your still getting no display go back to integrated with card still installed and see if windows recognizes new hardware. If it does you maybe be able to change your default display adapter.

yeah try installing it again,if then also the spin's with 100% speed, then it's likely to be the video card's fault and one more thing how do u get to know that it's spinning with 100% speed?and u told that there is no display,so, u cannot do anything unless logging into the pc...well keep updating

I reinstalled the graphics card to give it another go, but no dice. It still runs at full fan speed with no display at all. I went back to integrated graphics with the card still in and my computer DOES NOT recognize the hardware in device manager.

I might have an idea though, I bought a Cooler Master i500 power supply to power this card, would that have anything to do with it? Is Cooler Master a good brand of PSU? If its not to do with the PSU then I'll have to blame it on a faulty card.

yeah it's a good brand for psu and what happened after u brought the psu and 'plugged in the 6-pin connector' and powered the system with the gpu?got the display? (cheap cooler master psu's are not 'that' good, corsair is better)

1) I installed the graphics card to the motherboard
2) Connected the 6 pin power connector to the card
3) Connected my monitor to the card's DVI connector
4) Turned on my computer

After I turned on the computer the monitor would stay blank (Power LED would stay orange instead of turning green to show that its working). The card's fans will spin very powerfully I'd say at 100% speeds and it will keep doing this until I turn off the computer.

Ok, I guess it might be a dead card.. *sigh* Looks like I'll have to wait to play BF3 for another 3 weeks.
