I'm trying to install http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128590&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=.

But as you can see, the motherboard only has 7 screw holes. The "standard ATX" is set to have 9 screw holes, but I removed a pre-installed stand off from the case already because it didn't coincide with a screw hole on my motherboard. Now, my issue is with a built in standoff that the Corsair 500r case comes with. It includes the top 3 standoffs built into the case, so I can't remove the one that doesn't coincide with a screw hole on my motherboard. These are the standoffs I'm referring to...

And this is the side of the mobo that is one screw hole short of the 3 standoffs that are built into the case....

Therefore, am I correct in assuming that it could short my motherboard if I leave it be? I'm thinking of using electrical tape to cover up the built in standoff. Would that be the best way to handle this problem?

Really appreciate any help, as I'm trying to build this right now.

You are on track, cover it over with electrical tape or cut it odd with a powered rotary tool or a fine mini hacksaw if available...to add standoffs can line up position wise and drill a hole in the case commensurate with the standoff size (test on a piece of metal to get the proper size

Thanks for the input. Should I not worry about the electrical tape melting onto the motherboard?

If leaving the standoff in, I'd take 2 small pieces one stuck to the other, shiny side upand place over the standoff so it covers the top and comes down to the case itself, then take a small strip maybe an inch long and cut it up the middle legthwise, so a thin 1" strip or so, then wrap it around the bottom of standoff as close to the case as possible. Have done this a few times, once on a Compaq case about 6 years ago and last I looked it's still there (the original tape), and doing fine
