Internet disconnecting often- could it be due to my motherboard or drivers?

I recently built my first pc using a gigabyte 1155 z77 ud3h motherboard. Everything was going smoothly for the first 3 days. But today I had 3 disconnects. My internet is usually almost perfect, as I usually only get disconnected from a game maybe once every 3 months, if that. I've tried resetting my modem and all that. That is why I'm thinking there might be an issue elsewhere. Also, my computer seems to maintain it's connection to the web, because I can still surf the net and I haven't seen one of those red X's on my network icon in windows. I just get disconnected from the game as well as Skype. Fairly certain it's not the game either, since my friends don't DC. I have the most recent drivers from the gigabyte website and have a wired connection. Any suggestions?

New pc make sure the mb bios has been updated. There been a lot of bug fixes and code updates. For Ethernet drivers look at Realtek or intel for the newest driver depending on the chipset on the mb. Some mb with the intel Ethernet chipset. Intel has dropped a lot of garbage with the installer software. If your mb does have the intel chipset look to uninstall the extra intel software. I would run malware scan to see if there a program trying to use all of the pc network connection. You could also use a network sniffer program see if your network chipset is losing packets.
