Silverstone TJ11 Video Card Question

I am thinking of moving my latest build off my Lian Li T60 test bed into a case. One of the cases I am considering is the Silverstone TJ11, I just like the look of it and it has plenty of external drive bays that I always use.

My main concern is that I will be using just air-cooled parts and are not sure if the majority of video cards will work hanging upside down as half the heat pipes would be running up hill. Not a good idea for heat pipes. Most of the video cards I buy are the overclocked ones with three fans, typically gigabyte.

Would any of these cards work in the vertical position?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers

While I can't attest to the Temjin 11 specifically, when Tom's tested the Fortress 2, which also positions the cards that way, they found that it had extremely good GPU cooling (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/lian-li-pc-b12-nanoxia-deep-silence-1-silverstone-ft-02s-usb3,3378-15.html).

Thanks for the link above, a good article.
From what I read in that article they were talking about blower type fans that push the air out the back of the case, and there are hardly any of those where I buy from. I gather if the card uses wick type heat pipes they will work OK.

I can not seem to find any articles that specify what sort sort of heat pipes GPU and CPU coolers use.

Is there any way of finding out what sort of heat pipes products use?

Cheers MarkL

My pleasure.

I'm afraid that I don't know of any way to find out what sort of heat pipes a given card uses, unless you can find a review of the card where it's mentioned or find it on the manufacturers specifications page. Well, short of physically inspecting it, but that would somewhat commit you regardless of what you found out.
