i want a new video card as i'm not that happy with my GTX 650... and i plan on getting the AMD 7870 in august but thinking i should wait for the 8000 series as i will likely upgrade to it anyways and prob to an 8970 if the crossfire issue gets fixed and will get another 8970 later on... so should i grab a 7870 now or wait for the 8000 series?

More about : amd 7000 wait amd 8000

if you have such big plans for the future, i suggest you get a gtx 770 now.
and possibly sli it in the future( even though you wont really neeed to anytime soon)

Depends on how long you can wait. I just got a second 7870 for crossfire and it is working great so far. Everything plays just as smooth as one card.

+1 for the 770 http://amzn.to/12iIbiR If you want to wait for the 8xxx series it will be at least another couple months.

Wait for the next Radeons, next gen consoles all use same architecture, I have Nvidia atm, just cancelled my upgrade of 2 770s, I'm going Radeon in the future, don't forget most PC games are console ports, what's going to run them better?

As for the 770... no thanks! I'm not happy with Nvidia and the 700 series is just a rebrand if I was going Nvidia I would just say screw it and get the 780 since that is a new card and the 770 is just a 680 (don't have the money for that lol)... I'm hoping the 8000 series will fix the issue with crossfire, also AMD price is cheaper and the crap load of free games is nice.

@wanderer11
Do you have any problems with microstuttering?

I've only had it a couple days, but I don't notice any stutter. I played csgo last night and set fps_max 200 in console. 59, 60, 61, and 120 fps cap has awful tearing so I randomly chose 200, which has no tearing whatsoever. CSGO is the game I care about stutter the most, but I have no issues at all. I'm very happy with this setup so far. It also seems to add 80-90% to min fps in the games I have benchmarked. Both are Sapphire and running at 1050/1250. Different models, but work fine together. Maybe I just got lucky.
