G'day everyone. Help!

I'm building a brand new PC with this spec:

Gigabyte Motherboard Z77-HD3
Intel i5-3750k
Crucial Ballistix 16GB DDR3 RAM
EVGA Nvidia GTX660 GPU
Seagate 3TB SataIII HDD
Samsung DVD drive
Coolermaster GX650W PSU

I've assembled the lot, and it was sat in the case nicely. The power was plugged in, and I pressed the power button to find nothing. No boot. I cannot find any source of light either (no LED's have been lit)

I've been through the checklist found here:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-s...

and everything, apparently, is fine.

So, please help me!

Try to turn on power the old fashioned way, without using the case front panel header power button. Double check which 2 pins are mobo power on/off pins, and use a flat screwdriver tip to connect those 2 pins for a few seconds. If the build is normal, then it will power on, which means somewhere between you front panel header connector to the power button is the problem.

If the pc still gets no power, you need to strip everything down except for mobo, cpu, psu, and 1 stick of ram. No hdd, odd, or gpu. With those core components connected, try the screwdriver method again. If no boot, try to switch to another stick of ram. If no boot, try another psu (if you have one). The last checkpoint will be reseating cpu and heatsink. Even without the heatsink installed, the pc should still turn on for a few seconds (before it overheats and shuts down). Keeping it simple will make the troubleshooting much more effective.

And remember, even pros make the most basic mistakes, such as not turning on the psu on/off button, or forgetting to plug in a 4pin ATX12v cable, not seating the ram correctly, etc. I have seen my superiors do some stupid mistakes, that I caught in 5 min. So take your time, walk away to get a fresh air, and keep things simple, and you will find the problem.

Not a bean.

Do all MB's have an LED on themselves, to show when it is getting power? With the PSU connected to the power, I get no light at all...

I've no idea what happened, but it now boots. I don't know if a cable was too loose, and opening it up again moved it into place, but it works.

Thank you for your help, Goonbar79!

Glad your pc is working normally now. Make sure you thoroughly test it so that you can return defective parts.

FYI, use my method building next time to reduce much headache. This is just my method. I know everybody does it differently, but it worked best for me.

1. install mobo, cpu, heatsink, psu, 1 ram on top of the mobo antistatic bag on flat, but soft surface
2. turn on using screwdriver trick -> check bootup
3. connect boot drive (ssd or hdd), install os, install drivers
4. test overnight for stability
5. once everything is normal, install it inside case along with other components (storage drive, odd, gpu, etc).

Hey, if you liked my answer, select it as the best solution! Thanks!

You need the light, if no light then the PSU is either faulty or you don't have it plugged into the wall or the wall outlet is not turned on or the rocker switch on the back of the PSU is turned to off mode.
