24 pin power problem on my new PC

Hey, today all the parts for my new PC finally came and I tried to assemble it. The relevant parts are:

MSI Z87-G43
Corsair 600W CX series

So yeah, the 24 pin power connector from the PSU will not connect to the mobo. I have pushed as hard as I can and it still won't go in and the motherboard feels like it is about to break.

By it "wont go in" I mean that it will not clip into place, I have managed to boot into the bios but attemtping to close the case and put it upright will no doubt cause the 24-pin to fall out.

Does anybody have any advice? Which piece is most likely to have the faulty end, psu or mobo?

My current plan of action is to buy a 24pin extension as it may connect to both the psu and mobo, although I'm not sure this will work if the psu or mobo is actually "faulty".

Thank you.

Garret and smor, I am putting it in the right way. The clip is on the same side as the part which it clips over. I've checked for bent pins and debris and can't find anything. I'm 100% sure I'm attempting to put it in the slot correctly and this is backed up by the fact that I am getting power

Thank you tiny voices, it somewhat helps. I really don't want to leave it as it is though incase it cuts out during something important. But hey, atleast I know that I'm not the only person with this problem :)

Ah I see, its a little further in than mine. However I've been putting mine in and out all night trying to finally make it snap on. I think it may have been quite tight although not clipped at one point because I really struggled to take it out, then again, I'm exhausted.

Would it be dangerous if the 24-pin fell out? I'm talking at any time, during BIOS, booting, shutting down or on the OS? And what about updating my motherboard BIOS (hopefully won't require one as its new) and other system drivers?

Thanks again.
