MSI Z87-G43 mobo and Corsair 600 CX series psu..

Basically the 24 Pin doesn't clip on no matter how hard I press, so..

Would it be dangerous if the 24-pin fell out? I'm talking at any time, during BIOS, booting, shutting down or on the OS? And what about updating my motherboard BIOS (hopefully won't require one as its new) and other system drivers?

Thanks

Oh and it already did once, like as soon as it powered up, no damage as I can see but I would really like a few peoples opinion on this.

Very gently rock the plug side to side(the long way) and it should get into place.

When a power supply/board are new things take a bit more work to get connected.

It will cause no harm left part way out, just have a risk to fall out in the future.

Thanks for the advice I will give a try tomorrow, you say it is a risk to fall out in future but what exactly is this risk? Minor annoyance, loss of data, destruction of components? This is what I'm more concerned about right now

If it fell out when...

Loading Windows -> It is just like a power out. 99% of the time nothing bad happens.
Shutting down -> Same. Very rarely some corruption may happen, but it is VERY rare.
Working with open files -> loss of changes can happen, just like with a power out.
Flashing the bios -> good chance of a bad flash(This can require service or another bios chip to be sent out if you have a socketed board. The old chip is not damaged simply does not contain all the needed data to boot the system.).

Overall, Anything bad that happens from this would also happen if the power went out.

Hardware damage is almost impossible at this time. When the 20/24 pin connector comes out, The power supply instantly goes into standby mode(+3.3/+5/+12/ect all shut down only the +5standby stays on, that is in the 20/24 pin connector so the board no longer sees it anyway.).

Fantastic, thank you. If I can't fix it by tomorrow I'm just going to live with it. Personally I don't think it's worth attempting an RMA, it took me like 6 hours to be happy with everything except the 24-pin and I really don't want to do it again

It will go, they are always a pain when new.

Keep us posted.
