Hey guys. Just quickly came on here looking for some advice on a couple of hardware parts that I am thinking of using in a new system I'm planning to build in the next couple of months. I kind of got an answer, but wasn't exactly 100% clear on what would be best for my own specific needs. Also, I thought it would be a good idea to get some advice on the rest of the system too and any recommendations that people may have.
Approximate Purchase Date: Mid- Late August
Budget Range: Around £1,500 (£2,000 limit).
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, Video Editing and streaming (Youtube and twitchtv), Computer Game Content Creation (3D models, game environments), Photo Editing, Web browsing, Watching films/ playing music
Are you buying a monitor: Probably. Haven't fully decided on this one yet.
Parts to Upgrade: CPU, Mobo, RAM, GPU, PSU, Case, SSD, HDD, Disk Drive, Sound Card, CPU Cooler (basically everything)
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Overclockers.co.uk, Scan.co.uk, Novatech.co.uk, amazon.co.uk
Location: Southampton, Hampshire, UK
Parts Preferences:
CPU- Either Intel Core I7-3770k or I7-3930k. This is what I am most uncertain about at the moment.
CPU Cooler- Either Corsair H80i or H100i
Mobo- Not too bothered, dependant on the CPU. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
RAM- 16GB
GPU- Either Nvidia Gefore GTX 770 or 780. Undecided if to get two of either card for SLI.
PSU- Between 800W-1.2k W. Nothing too pricey though.
Case- Aerocool Xpredator X3 Gaming Tower Case
SSD- One, maybe two if it fits in the budget, 256GB Drives
HDD- Seagate Barracude 2TB @7200rpm
Sound Card- Creative Sound Blaster Z
Disk Drive- Blu-Ray Player, not really any other specs
Overclocking: Maybe further down the line but probably not initially
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe, depends if needed/ recommended
Your Monitor Resolution: Current 1680x1050 with a 2nd monitor running at 1280x1050. Will more than likely upgrade to 1920x1080 as my main monitor, and discard my current 2nd monitor.
Additional Comments: Games I like to play and will continue to play are BF3 (and BF4 when it comes out), Arma 2, Arma 3, DayZ, F1 2012, Project C.A.R.S, League of Legends, Planetside 2.
Software I use on a frequent basis; 3DS Max, UDK Editor, Photoshop, Camtasia Studio 8 (will probably upgrade to Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere), MSI Afterburner, DXTory, XSplit
Im looking to upgrade basically to run the games I enjoy playing at a more stable FPS. My current system is a good 4 years old now, and I can only record reliably on one or two of the games I play, and im looking to increase that number. Also with a growing youtube channel, I want to provide more and higher quality content to my viewers, with better recording and editing/ rendering software, and with also the possibility of streaming in the future when I upgrade my internet.
I have a half decent knowledge on whats good and whats not on the current market, but I'd like a more reliable "this is good for this, that is bad for that" set of opinions on hardware to just confirm and clarify what would be good for this kind of system. Recommendations are more than welcome, especially for hardware that I haven't specified a certain product on. Like I said earlier in the post, budget is probably going to be somewhere between £1.5k - £2k. Preferably, no more than £2,000 if possible, but if something is seriously worth it, then I will certainly consider exceeding that amount a little.
Big thanks to anyone who could help me out
