I'm going to be setting up a brand new rig in about a week and I thought of an issue that may arise. I'll be installing Windows 8 onto a hard drive (with a Z87 mobo) from a USB 3.0 flash drive. Will I be able to do this considering it is USB 3.0 and USB 2.0? While the board supports USB 3.0, would I need the drivers for it before being able to use the flash drive? (AKA I will have to use disc/USB 2.0 drive)

It'll be fine, USB 3.0 devices will work fine in USB 2.0 ports. If you try to install Windows via a USB 3.0 port on your computer, it probably won't work as USB 3.0 ports require drivers and some boards can't use them for boot up.

Short answer: You can use the 3.0 drive in a 2.0 port. Do that, install, be happy.
