My desktop has had a delay of a few minutes between when the power button is pressed and when the computer powers on and boots. Recently it would not turn on at all. Only the green light on the motherboard was on and pressing the power button or jump-starting the computer via the pins on the motherboard have done nothing. After I removed my PSU completely for a fan test (the fan did spin) and re-installed it I left the computer without any power overnight. The next morning I pressed the power button and there was a delay then it booted.

Yesterday it would not start again. I suspected that it may have been the CMOS battery but replacing that did nothing. I suspect that my problem is within either my PSU or my Motherboard. Any help in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Computer Hardware:

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990 fx
CPU: AMD FX 5.2ghz-ish
Graphics: Nvidia 560 ti
PSU: Thermaltake 600 w
HDD: 500 GB 7200 RPM
RAM: 16 GB Ballistix Sport

I know my CMOS battery is good. Also I cannot check the time and date because the computer will not turn on. My focus is not the CMOS battery, it is the fact that I cannot turn my computer on. Thanks for the help though.

There is no motherboard button. I have tried shorting the power button pins manually and that did nothing just like pressing the power button.

I want to be cirtain that the problem is with one of my components so I can replace that. As of right now I do not know which part is causing the problem. I have been able to narrow it down to the PSU and the motherboard. It could be another component but I am fairly certain that it it is the PSU or motherboard.

My computer does not turn on. The fans do not spin and there is no way I am able to see anything let alone windows displayed on the monitor. I suspect that this is a result of a bad PSU or Motherboard. The windows link was not able to help since this is the case.

do you have the led on the motherboard that receive power when the psu is connect to her recheck all the power conector and use only the os drive and one stick of memory check if thisone is well seated andclip in the slot also if you have the onboard video chipset remove the pci-e graphic card from the motherboard ,we need to know if board receive power before going further .the other thing does your outlet is giving power test her with a lamp .
