So here's how my day has gone:
I bought a gaming pc a couple weeks ago which arrived today. I eagerly went to pick it up from the depot, brought it home and began setting things up. Updated the drivers etc, set up Steam, began downloading a game. Twice during these initial steps, the screen flickered and horizontal lines came up intermittently. Once, the screen went black and I had to manually restart the computer. At the time my guess was that it had something to do with drivers for my monitor, as its a bit old and Acer don't make a driver for Windows 7, just Vista. For this reason I couldn't use the monitors speakers as well. Other than that everything was going fine.
Midway through downloading a game, the power went out for most of the city including me. It was out for 45 mins or so. Now when I start my computer, there are horizontal lines and various other graphical glitches all over the password screen. When I attempt to login, the system crashes to a blue screen which says the computer must shut down in order to prevent damage. It recommends I check any new hardware that's been installed (just every bloody component then!).
I've been using a Macbook for the last 6 or 7 years, haven't used Windows much at all. Anyone know what is happening here? I'm now quite worried they'll try to void my warranty on the power outage.
P.S. Yes I know I should have built it myself, I've never tried before and thought this would be more convenient.
