Today I got the HIS 7970 Ice Qx2 and I also got the corsair 900D. I moved all of my components to my new case and I hooked up my video card and for some reason it will not come on. I'm not sure if it's because I need a bigger PSU or if I need to RMA.
My PSU is a 730w.

Solution

That's not true. It will work perfectly in any PCIe 2.0 x8 slot, x16 slot, and in any PCIe 3.0 x4, x8, or x16 slot.

fans are not spinning at all. I see two places to put chords but I already put one chord there and I think the other place is for crossfire/SLI. I'll have to check if everything is plugged up tomorrow.

I couldn't find the 2nd PCI E connector. I thought that it was for crossfire. I'm used to just using one connector since I had a 7770.

mobo: Cross hair Formula Z
CPU: 8350 paired with the Coolermaster Hyper 212 plus
RAM: 8gb G. Skill Sniper series
PSU: Raidmax Hybrid 2 RX 730W
HDD: 2TB (Believe it's a Seagate)
and I have an Asus DVD drive 24x

that's what I thought the problem may have been. I'll try and look for the connector tomorrow. When I looked tonight I couldn't find it in my PSU's box and the video card didn't have any connectors in with the packaging.

Okay so you guys think that's the problem? I read somewhere that it wouldn't work in the first two PCI slots.

Edit: I just tried an 8 pin and it won't fit. 6 pin is okay though.

It must not be one then. I checked what my PSU came with and it didn't come with an 8 pin connector so I just bought one and got overnight shipping.

Nvm... I think it does. I looked again and it has a 6+2 PCI-E connector. I'm guessing that's an 8 pin connector? lol

I know what you mean although if I could I would just build a new computer all day!

Lol it would be too easy to say 8 pin. Well look at the bright side, if you do happen to get this working, you have a spare PSU!

well good news I found the connector. Bad news it says there's no signal on my monitor. I try to turn it off, but it won't turn off even holding the power button so I've been having to flip the switch on the PSU or unplugging it.

Yeah, it is likely just a PSU problem. If it doesn't work when the new PSU comes in, then we have an issue.

I think I found the problem. I didn't have the ATX cable plugged in.
Also I wasn't getting a new PSU I was getting an 8 pin connector. If I said I was it was either spell check or I was tired haha
