Hey Community,

First off Godbless, and thanks for even READING this topic. Means a lot :D

Anyways here are the system specs, soup to nuts.

-Mobo, usb 2.0 support, (not 3.0), pci x16 pci x1(x2)
-Memmory 2 4GB XMS3 1333mhz
-Graphics Card HD 7750 OC'D 950mhz Core clock 1500mhz Memmory
-Processor Intel G850 Locked in at 2.9ghz
-Power Supply 450 Watts
-Operating System Windows 7
-Optical Disk Drive: DVD
-Case ATX HAF 912, All the eye candy I can stand. As in I do not want any more, so don't suggest that :D

I have hit a wall with this build, because after hitting my ram cap, and getting MUCHO better frames in minecraft.

Exempli Gratia, 1gb to java 4gb ram, 30-60 fps recording. 2gb to java 8gb totoal, 100-220 fps recording.

I cannot decide how I want to upgrade my system. With ram you can add more, but with a processor you cannot add to the processor you have to eat to cost of the previous one.

I am getting about 30-50 constant fps in bf3. 1080P resolution 16x AAF, no aa, no filters, Medium settings, Ultra Textures, Shadows on low.

I will have 200 dollars in the next 3 months... (Potentially in a week tho, not going to explain, thus I am asking now)

What should I upgrade? I have a small mobo, but will support any 1155 socket CPU and a x16 pci 3.0 so no problems there. Any non quad core game I max just fine. I max Far cry 3, alan wake, etc, no problems. 25-50 fps. No AA tho. On multiplayer I cook it down a bit so its comfortable tho.

So mainly this upgrade is for INTENSE games like BF3, and BF4.

I understand the one would be being bottlenecked by the other until I upgraded, but due to my limited undergrad budget, I will have to deal with that for a little bit.

To get to the point, I can either go the CPU or the GPU route, with the CPU I can get a I5 3470 no oc mind you for 190$, Would it be good just to save some money and get the 3350p for 170$? Or will I lose too much performance.

If I go the GPU route, should I get like a 7850?

Thanks!

Thanks for the response :D

The 1600mhz ram is out of the question unfortunately.

Anyways, for my need do you think I should go with the I5 now, or the 7850?

(Gpu I have now: Paid 100$ for , cpu: 60, so should I go with a 180 cpu to balance it out more... Vs 60$ + 180)

I think you should go with The graphics card for now, because although the processor is only a dual core, it has a nice little L3 cache, which plays quite nicely with graphics cards. Anyway, the 7850 isn't a very highend card, so it doesn't often get bottlenecked by lower end hardware.
