This is my pc: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01619747#N96

I need to replace the mb as it no longer seems to communicate with the HD (bios sees it but will not boot into windows at all). Swapped in a new HD adn same story.

Can someone suggest a replacement mb model / make I can order online or get at Fry's electronics? Will I be able to use the same case or need to replace that also?

IMPORTANT: It's an Asus microATX form factor - will another more modern Asus microATX motherboard fit in case with no compatibility problems??

I need to replace this ASAP as it's my main pc. Thanks.

you have 2 options here.

1 open up the case and look at the motherboard for any model numbers that you can find and buy a second hand one off the internet. This will save you a lot of problems. Replacing the factory HP board with say an asus board A) might not fit the case, $$ for new case B) powersupply might not fit, hp has been know to have different wireing on there 24 pin plug $$ new powersupply C) the os will no be able to activate to the new board so you will need to buy a new os $$ for new os

If you cant find a replacement board for the factory one then the only real option would be option 2

2 look into buying an new computer
