Hello, everyone. I have bought this new PC and i've been thinking if i could upgrade the PSU so i can install a new graphics card.
My PC is the HP p7-1235.
Why i'm worried that the PSU will not fit is because that the new PSU has a switch on the back, while my current PC doesn't have a switch on the back and only a place to plug it in.

My computer specs.

I would like to upgrade the PSU to this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EYV690/ref=ox_sc_a...

Where i would later install this GPU.

Okay here's the thing. There is an extrusion in the motherboard tray that acts like a front stop for the power supply in HP pavilion. Measure from the back of the case to that extrusion first. I had a Pavilion and upgraded th PSU and it fit but not quite right. I couldn't screw all the power supply's attaching screws in the back of the case. The OCZ's dimensions are 5.9" x 3.4" x 6.5" so hope this helps.

Constantly trying to upgrade components in the HP is what ultimately led me to building from scratch. It is really hard to build in that case. The biggest gpu I could put in it was a 9600 GSO or a Sparkle Low Profile GTS 450 even then it was tight with little or no air flow. It only has one 80mm rear exhaust fan. I'd look into migrating to a new case first. A new case, a motherboard that supports your current cpu and some memory in addition to the gpu and you'll have a decent set up. The GPU will fit but it's going to get hot in that case because the case does not move air very efficiently. You'll eventually have to take the side panel off to keep the gpu alive.

I wouldn't recommend it. It's a pain in the ass upgrading inside of these custom made HP cases. I remember I tried upgrading the psu inside of mine, but I had to completely change the configuration of a bunch of different components cause the thing kept budding against them. Also, cable management is a complete bitch due to how small they are. In the end, it really wasn't worth all the aggravation. You'd be better off just selling your current machine and just building your own honestly.
