When I start my PC Windows 8 loads into a recovery screen with three options, two of which don't work and the third is to select which OS to boot into, both say Windows 8, the one that is actually on my hard drive works normally, but the other just restarts my PC. I made the mistake of installing Windows 8 on a friends hard drive with my hard drive still connected and I think this is what caused the problem. Any help on how to get rid of the useless "Windows 8" is much appreciated.

Also, I have set the default starting OS to Windows 8 on volume 1, my hard drive, but it still goes through a 5 second boot delay to select the volume 1 Windows 8.

Hello Skyroor

What you can do is, you can start the Windows normally (as you said that one of the displayed options boots the Windows normally) and on the desktop screen, press the Windows + R keys together to open the Run command box.

On the Run command box, type 'MSCONFIG' command (without quotes) and on the System Configuration window, go to the Boot tab.

Here you will find the same list that is displayed when you start your computer. Even the sequence of the displayed list is identical. From here you can click to select the option that boots the Windows normally and click the Set as default button. Once done, you can click to select the other option (the non-working one) from the list and click the Delete button to remove it from...

You can also decrease the value in the Timeout: field from whatever it is to 0 seconds to boot the computer instantaneously without going through the delay.

Hope this helps.
