I am currently deciding between the AMD FX-8350, Intel i5 3570K, and the Intel i5 4670K. I have done quite a bit of research and can not determine which is the right one for me. I am attempting to build a PC that will be primarily used for video editing and gaming. I will probably be using it for gaming more often than editing, but i am slightly more concerned with editing because I am in school for video production and will need the computer for editing projects. I know all three are supposed to be great processors but which one fits my needs the most? Or is there another processor i should be looking at? I have probably a $600 budget for the computer but could bump it up to $700 if i need to. Or should I look at lesser processors like the AMD Athlon II 645 which i have read is very good for editing but only okay with gaming and put the saved money elsewhere on the computer like the graphics card or motherboard?

Do the benchmarks you used account for a graphics card? It might be worth pointing out that the Intel will use less power. You also say you'll be gaming more than editing, and the Intel chip is the better choice for most games. While this could change as more games become better threaded, I don't think it would be enough to make a difference. If you have no particular preference, I think I'd go with Intel, but I don't think you will be unhappy with either one.
Are there any benchmarks available for the video editing program(s) you will use? Will your projects benefit from quicksync, an Intel-only feature? How about CUDA or ATI-Stream GPGPU processing?
The Athlon II 645 is not in the same league as the others, so you can pass on that one.

Yes. The AMD runs Adobe Premier Pro slightly faster, but After Effects does a bit better on the Intels (i dont use AE too often)

sorry, read that wrong. Probably, I would imagine that they would. I know that Premier takes advantage of cards with CUDA for gpu accelerated features

It depends on what graphics cards they can use. If they are only accelerated by AMD's Stream processing, you need to get an AMD card. If they use CUDA, then you need nVidia. Since you will also play games, I'd think a HD7790 or GTX650Ti should fit within your budget.

Ah, you edited your post. If you want CUDA, that means nVidia. A GTX650Ti (or Boost edition if you can get it in your budget) would be decent.

Okay thank you! I was looking at the GTX650ti boost as the graphics card. Sorry for all the questions, this is my first complete build. So with the processors are the AMD's 8 cores going to help with HD video editing performance enough that i should get that over the intels? or does it not make a huge difference?
