Okay guys, I was looking into getting a TV tuner card for my new computer, I had one many years ago and loved it. The problem I am running into is that I have no idea what anyone is talking about, ie the NTSC ATSC stuff. I don't have a set top box, I live in an apartment that provides cable and its not even an option to get a box, however all of the information that I have been able to glean says that you need a card from your cable provider, I can't get in touch with my cable provider because I am not their customer the apartment complex is the customer.

I was wanting to watch TV on my computer while recording onto my storage drive, from the quick looking on the internet i found this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116036 that looks like it might do what i want. I was hoping someone could tell me I have chosen the right card or I need to keep looking.

Thanks in advance.

ATSC is the new digital standard for over-the-air broadcasting in north america. NTSC is the old analog standard- which is virtually extinct now.

The card you linked to is one of the best, it will work well. Use Windows Media Center (Vista or Win7) for the software.
