Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone's seen a comparison between the two gpu coolers? (temps / noise etc)

I do prefer EVGA but it is quite abit more expensive than then gigabyte one. (gtx 770)

More about : acx cooler windforce

The ACX cooler is amazing. Definitely better than Windforce. What are the prices?

Around 359 for evga and 329 for the gigabyte (uk prices :(  ) if you think the acx cooler is better i would rather EVGA anyway to be honest. These are the OC versions, i cant find them without the OC version.

Is this a new build or are you just upgrading graphics cards? If you are just upgrading, then I would pick the Gigabyte one. If you're buying a new one, perhaps you can work around the 30 by working around other components without losing performance.

im upgrading from a 580, and actually going SLI 770's, so you can see why 30+30 would be alot extra, trying to wonder whether its worth it or not

1 / 1080p (120hz atm), possibly go 1440p later on but cant see myself leaving the 120hz right now :[

Then one GTX 770 is enough. That one card can max out almost all games. Some very graphical-intensive games like Crysis 3, you'll have to tune down AA or a few settings to get 60+ fps on Ultra, but it is still very strong on its own. If you're sticking with the 1080p that is. So save your money. :)

Oh I know its not necessarily 'needed' although i have seen several games where a single 770 does struggle, however even if this wasn't the case I would still want to do so to try and make more use of 120hz and future proofing for higher res.

Appreicate your reply however this was not my question :)

I decided to do the EVGA ACX version. No regrets. Cool and quiet. The EVGA ACX (10") is also a full inch shorter than the Gigabyte Windforce (11") card in case that matters at all (dimensions from NewEgg.com).

Given enough time there is a guy going through threads that has a link to a review which he says "definitively" proves the Windforce is better. The tests were close enough that I'd give the technical win to EVGA though. Their card is smaller, and has 2 fans (instead of 3) and is just barely behind the Windforce. Which tells me their cooler is technically superior. ;)

Both are good cards. Though EVGA is generally held as the highest quality for nVidia card makers.

Nice man, can you tell me how your idle and load temps are doing?

I tend to idle @ 29-32C depending on my room temp (I'm not climate controlled in summer). Never seen anything over 70C while gaming (BF3, Far Cry 3, etc). My max temp on a Heaven 4.0 Benchmark (Extreme Setting 1080p) was 64C I think just two nights ago.

EDIT: I should note I'm using the default fan settings. Have not made custom fan curve.

Just saw your edit, to be honest if the temps are similar i'd most likely go with the windforce due to price at the moment, £60 extra for two of them is too crazy for me to go with evga, unless shown that the acx is vastly better.

Yea they are the temps i was expecting tbh, From the benchmarks ive seen on some websites the ACX seems to run a little cooler under load.
I like EVGA but cant bring myself for that price :(

Oh by the way. Take a look at details. A couple of 4GB cards have been released lately. I've seen $20-$40 price differences. Make sure that's not a price difference between them (i.e. one is more due to RAM).

As long as your case can handle the length of the cards you should be happy. Should be good cards.

well got two 770 windforce cards now, seem to idle 28c and load temps around 73c (after 2-3 hours gaming) with core at 1267 mhz.

I am happy with these cards :)  insane performance aswell.

I dont believe that for a second. The Windforce is rated for 450W of heat. The ACX isnt even close to that

oh forgot to add, that load temp was on 1st card, which is hotter than my 2nd card due to heat rising etc, 2nd card goes around 10c less than whatever my 1st card is
