Hey if it works, it works!

I only asked because, for different heatsink designs, there are different ways to apply it. (For more info on this, check this section of the article: http://archive.benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=170&Itemid=1&limit=1&limitstart=5)

Please read this article: http://archive.benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=170&Itemid=1

After reading the article posted earlier, you can choose whether or not to follow AS's instructions here:
http://www.arcticsilver.com/pdf/appmeth/int/vl/intel_app_method_vertical_line_v1.1.pdf

Also, keep in mind that AS5 takes ~200 hours of normal use to break in.

Cheers!

AS5 is a very good thermal paste and it has been around for a while. Are there better thermal paste now? Sure, but AS5 is still very good nonetheless. Regarding the ~ 200 hour curing time, it is actually not that big of a deal. I believe once AS5 is fully cured temps drop by 2C or 3C from when it is initially applied.

That is a pretty looking heatsink.

Count me in as another Arctic Silver fan. I have used it on two Intel PCs with the boxed heatsink.

My desktop (Q6600) has ran nearly five years with AS thermal paste.
