$1,800 for the PC and $20 for the speakers is too much?
WTF :??:

Whatever you can find in that price range will work. They are pretty much all the same.

i agree..

you want to spend $1800 on your computer however you only want to spend $10 on the speakers?

anything in this price range is going to be subpar.

at a bare minimum i would go with a z313 or simlar set and even that is not all that great for your system.

an awsome tower with absolute minimum perepherals is not all that great.

remember... speakers, a mouse and keyboard and monitor are all just as important as your tower.

All I need is decent sound quality, NOTHING else. What do you suggest?

Spending 1800 on a PC and using it with $10 speakers is like bying a Ferrari and putting Corolla tires on it. Speakers, monitor, keyboard and mouse are things you want to perform well since those are the things that are DIRECTLY your connection to the computer. If the CPU can to 3,000,000 instructions per second or 2,950,0000 won't matter much, but good sound and video outputs do.

Spend $30 on an OK set of speakers at least. I have seen the old Cambridge Soundworks 2.1 systems sell for about $30 or less used, those are probably the best bargain in speakers you can get.

From the parts you listed, $650 on a video card is crazy if you can't put $100 towards a good set of speakers. Get a cheaper video card and better speakers. Video card will be outdated in 3 years but a good set of speakers will sound good forever.

well i'm not so sure you want to take everything away from the video card but in general you can cut back $20 somewhere to get better speakers i would think..

i think a better analogy would be that you go to a movie theater with a big screen and they give you earbuds to listen to the movie since they have no speakers.
