Hello.. I am building a new rig i want some questions about cpu coolers.. Like the title says these are the coolers i have selected. I have mentioned the prices in local shops.. Please don't suggest air coolers.. Thanks in advance..

Corsair H60 (13000LKR)
Corsair H80i (18000LKR)
Antec Kuhler 920 (16000LKR)

1. I wont oc my i5 4670k more than 4ghz.. I want to know that which one is the best bang for bucks.. I am on a tight budget so i don't want to spend extra money for a H80i or Kuhler unless it worth the extra.

2. What is the difference between H80 vs H80i?

More about : h60 kuhler 920 h80i

1. Overclocking new intel chips means overclocking it's turbo. The i5 4670k has a base clock of 3.4 and a turbo of 3.8. Overclocking your chip a mere 200mhz would almost be possible on the stock cooler. So any cooler would do really.

2. The h80i uses a different pump. however the big difference is that the h80i has a usb interface for monitoring and controlling it's fan speed and tempertures.

If you are only going to 4GHz then I'd get the H60, the H80i and 920 are for people who want to push it to 4.5GHz range.

H80i is just updated version. Small tweaks, it's better but I don't think you need it.

Well actually if overclocking only to 4ghz and on a budget, the Cooler Master HYPER 212 evo will get the job done easily for a mere $35! If you would like a little more cooling power, the Cooler Master V6 will easily allow an overclock as high as 4.5ghz. With that said, there is really no reason for a more powerful cooler!

The h80i will require a internal USB motherboard header to install. Also it's radiator fans will be powered by the pump as opposed to the motherboard or PSU. This allows the Corsair Link software to control fan speed from within Windows. The software will allow you to make profiles that will adjust fan speed as CPU temp rises to reduce noise or maximize cooling.

Many good motherboards have software availble that does pretty much the same thing. So if that sounds appealing then check your motherboard first.

Yes the H80i is excellent (I use one in my personal system), but as far as value goes, it can't compete with the CM hyper 212 EVO...

i got a msi z87 g45 motherboard.. But im going to replays my coolers fans with corsair sp 120 fans which already got.. They have 3pin connectors.. That means fans will run at full speed if i get a h60? But h80i will controll the speed no matter what fans i use?

Yes and no. If the motherboard you get is the one I linked, it says it has software that will control fan speeds. So as long as you hook up the fans to the motherboard headers you will have some level of fan control through the motherboard. Even if the motherboard doesn't have software available, you should be able to fix fan speeds in the BIOS. When you hook the fans to the mobo pay attention to the lables on the fan headers. Try to hook up the pump to a pwr fan header (the h60) and the fans to CPU_fan and Cha_fan. The h80i will be able to control the fan speed for the corsair SP fans.

The fans included with the h80i are pretty much the SP fans, without the pretty colors. I can't remember where but someone did a test for radaitor fans and the stock h80i fans did very well. Personally I would just save the money unless your going for bling. If your choosing between the h60 and the h80i I would get the h80i, it comes with 2 fans already.

The fans will run at speeds determined by your BIOS or how you adjust them. The H60 runs at 2000rpms. It doesn't downclock. The H80i runs at 2600rpms. I think both will be loud. That's why I went with an air cooler. My Evo can drop down to 600rpms or jump to 1800rpms (when gaming) and I can't hear it at all at 600rpms but I hear it at 1800rpms.

I already got sp fans from my old rig.. I had hyper 212 and when i was using original fans mobo controlled the speed. But after i replaced them with sp fans they worked at full speed without any kind of control and it was noisy. So i had to buy a fan controller.. So i don't want to happen to same thing again.. I decided to buy a H80i.. Thank you for your help..

You might want to replace the fan to make it quieter on the H80i.

I have the H80i and it's very loud. I'd suggest maybe done Noctua fans as I've heard good things about them... But again, the h80i isn't really worth it compared to say the Hyper 212 EVO

My thoughts exactly. For a very mild overclock nothing beats the Evo. but not everybody thinks about how loud the fans are until they install it and wonder what the jet is inside their case.

An Evo costs $25-30 and a H80i costs $88 plus extra fan (+$12) to keep it quiet. You decide.

Couldn't agree more... I never really thought about noise before I purchased the H80i, and I sort of regret not getting air cooling like the Noctua d14 (My 3930k is overclocked @ 4.5ghz so a hyper 212 evo is not an option)
