GPU Fan Failure

Hello guys, recently when I'm running games (all on high) the fan seems to stop spinning and the GPU temp reaches to 90-100 F, which causes my game play to become really choppy and unplayable.

And if I restart my computer, the fan seems to start spinning again and seems to be okay for gaming.
The GPU fan failure seems to only happen the first time I start the computer.

Could it be my GPU fan failing on me?

I've had this computer for about a year.

GPU: XFX 6850
CPU: i5 2500k
PSU: OCZ Fatality 550W

Thanks for the help

If it is only a problem with the cooler I'd suggest getting an after market cooler. Probably the best air cooling solution would be a Arctic Cooling Accelero XTREME Plus......Pricey but the best

Or the GELID Solutions GC-VGA02-01 VGA Cooler ICY VISION

Sorry but Superbiiz was the cheapest I could find it but not bad for $52.00. The Accelero XTREME Plus would be my choice but at that price I think it's time to save that money towards a new gpu. You can upgrade from the HD 6850 to a HD 7850 and save yourself a lot of trouble. This PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 2GB open box for $128.00 from Newegg might be the way to go.

And it is a serious increase in performance per dollar
