Crucial Ballistix Sport; Keep or "toss"?

I bought a new motherboard the other day from newegg and it came with a free 8gb (2x4) ram kit. Crucial Ballistix Sport. I went through much of the feedback and it seems that 50% say its good and the other 50% say it was DOA or not good in general.

Question now is, should I rather invest in different ram modules or try and see if those 2 will be fine and run with them?

Just try to use it. If it fails then just sell it. You got it for free after all.

I'd try it. run it into the ground. somehow I view these "free" things as being free for a reason.

my personal experience with ballistix hasn't been good. so I'm in the "DOA" crowd. ( I'm biased )

If it fails and u want to sell it, please said it "for parts only" or "non functional" some people still buy them to recycle the component..

trying to sell failed device as working device (and u know they are fail) could get u into a trouble....

I think they have a life time warranty so an rma would take care of any bad ram.......... but.......................

Try it by itself see it it works, if not RMA to sales site, IF you want to try and mix with other sticks, and it works by itself, give me a shout and we'll see what we can do to get them to play together
