That last year model in sept. the one year warranty should still be good if you got the unit in sept. it has one of the newer fm2 amd mb in it. Your better off money wise to get the unit repaired and but a good power supply and good gpu. For 150 price point your looking at fm2 mb and the new richland fx CPU for the price. Or your looking at h61 mb and and i3 CPU.

I can only spend $160. That combo you gave me is overkill.

That seems really good. Would the 4GB RAM capacity effect me? There might be time i used over 4gb ram if the computer is acting weird.

One thing the board is "micro" form factor not full ATX size. The free RAM module is 4GB but the board will support 8GB.
There are a few other boards but @ $150 there some compromises had to be made. Ex. DDR2 memory I think you needed DDR3.

I see. I thought when it said "total memory size" it meant the capacity memory. BTW if I replace this motherboard with the one i have now do I have to reinstall Windows 8?

I heard that it depends on how many hardware changes. Let's say I don't put in the dedicated GPU for now and just use the integrated gpu. Only thing that is changed is the motherboard and the cpu.

There are some tutorials not sure if they work to do this. Has anyone here experienced with replacing mobo without reinstalling windows

This one is the same one you suggested but without the RAM right?

I have a DDR3 8GB RAM already do you think this will fit on that motherboard? I forgot to say this one don't have the graphic card. I think it's a lot better if I spend $30-40 on a 300w graphic card

One more thing:
I forgot the the CPU might be working too. It gets heated up when the cpu turns on (i took out the fan to check and yes i made sure i only turn it on for less than 5 sec). So as long as I buy a FM2 motherboard it will work correct?

No mine was ASUS with a AM+3 socket

Oh woops I see. Well thank you very much. I decided to get a motherboard itself. It is still possible my dead motherboard's cpu will still work.
