Hi,

In the past two years I am using a computer with a gts450 on it. Since high-end games like crysis 2, far cry 3, battlefield 3, etc. my GPU can't get them in max settings so I've decided to upgrade my GPU to gtx650ti boost.

Here's the problem. When I installed the gtx650ti on my computer, it worked fine and low graphic games runs perfect. I tried BF3, I can get into the game (past the main menu) for around 3 seconds and my computer turns-off (no warning messages, no beep).I can play BF3 on my old card on high settings without it shutting-down.

Is this a heat-issue? If so, why does it only shuts-down on the gtx650ti and not on my old card?

Here are my PC Specs:
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33GHz
MoBo: DG41RQ
RAM:Two DDR2 2G (total of 4G)
PSU: Output 500W Max

My GPUs:
GTS450 1G GDDR5 and GTX650ti Boost 2G GDDR5

Sorry if my way of writing is wonky. English is not my primary language.

Thanks for the immediate reply. My PSU is not branded. It's just a generic PSU that came with the computer 4 years ago. Can power shortage to a GPU cause full computer shut-offs? I'm getting MSI afterburner now.

Lol I tried searching for the PSU brands you mentioned and none of them came up on the shops I've been frequently looking at. Still going to try and search though.

12V lines? I have V~ Input, V--- Output, MAX as row headers and Voltage, current, frequency as column headers. Where am I going to look? Sorry if I'm answering wrong

After using MSI afterburner I got 38C for the GPU temp went to 44C with Street Fighter 4 and 47C with Hitman. Fan speed at 30.

Wow, can you suggest what numbers I must find on a PSU that will support my new card?

The CX430 and XFX PRO SERIES 450w carry 28 amps and 32 Amps respectively. More than enough to power the GTX650ti boost. I own a CX430 myself and im powering a very old card which is a bitsh of a powerhog

Thanks for the suggestions but can those two really support the gtx650ti? 'Coz from looking at their specs the CX430 is 430W and the XFX PRO SERIES 450w is 450W and the 650tis MINIMUM power requirement is 450W.. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

The power supply requirements are always over-rated. However if you do have the money to spend then get a better solution. The CX500 looks like a decent upgrade and will allow room for future upgrades too.

I'm looking at your suggested CX500 and the CS600 both by Corsair. I'm going to post back after I try changing my PSU.

Bought a GS600 by Corsair and it's perfect! Everything is 100% working now. Thank you for all who answered!
