wiky123,

As ASHISH65 mentioned, the ARK site gives very complete information about Intel CPU's.

Be careful to look deeply into compatibility. Even when the series, socket, FSB, and lithography is the same, sometimes they don't work. I was caught in this way with Core2 Duo which had many series. If you have a factory system like a Dell or HP, look up the CPU's that were sold with the system when new or look up compatibility by the motherboard model number. Encouragingly, in some cases where Core2 Duo went before, a Core2 Quad may work and those have substantially more computing power. The quad core will take more power than a dual core and may require improving the CPU cooling capacity.

After looking then up you might have a look at the Passmark CPU Benchmark site, which will give you relative performance ratings and ratings >

A Core2 Duo 6300 is by the way a 1.86GHz that is not hyperthreading and is tragically No. 1,000 on the Passmark list of about 1,700.

Cheers,
