I've just completed my first rebuild replacing my old mother board with an AsusP8z77 v pro and an i53450s processor with 4GB of corsair RAM AM now rather dismayed to find the computer is significantly slower than it was. No actual problems (crashes, bluescreen, errors or anything) just slower. My old system was a dual core 2200 processor with 2GB ram. I've clearly done something wrong, but without any actual errors I'm not sure where to start looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Already tried virus, malware and rootkits checks from several different providers, updated drivers, checked device manager for any non-functioning devices, and removed all the old drivers.

Thanks

When you installed the new motherboard and processor, did you reinstall Windows? It may not have adjusted itself to to the two extra cores that the new processor includes.

A processor and motherboard change is a pretty significant change, and Windows will sometimes get confused and not run as well as it should.

Thanks. I've been thinking of taking the opportunity to upgrade to windows 7, but didn't want to do so if I'd messed something up installing the motherboard. I will just install the new windows and see if that solves the problem, thanks.
