Did I mess up my computer even more?

I built a computer md all was working well, but one day it started making some noise and smoking. I was pretty sure it was the psu, because the pc stopped working and I did the paperclip test with no luck. Ordered a new psu, and the fans would turn on, but that was it. I wasn't sure if I got another bad psu or if my mb got damaged from the first psu. I ordered a new mb which should come in a few days. Today, I decided to take out the mb battery and reinsert it. Now not even the fans go on. Did I mess up the mb even more, or was the new psu the problem the entire time amd now it just broke? I still have to do the paperclip test though, which I can't at the moment.

shouldn't be and if you got the exact same mobo or at least the same chipset then you might be able to save your current OS install.
just plug it all up and if any differences windows updates will reconfigure and make the proper adjustments.
prompt you to reboot and you should be done but just in case have the driver disk for the mobo handy.

you should be good.

Thanks. It is the same motherboard, so hopefully that'll be fine. It's a OCZ Modxstream 600w. The one that blew was a corsair tx650, which is weird, because it is supposed to be very reliable.

Yeah that is weird. I would either replace or get a new surge protector (if you don't already have one).

Did you have the TX-650 or TX-650v2?

Version 2s are supposed to be much more reliable, not that the first version was problematic though, it's just that v2 uses even better components inside. But even the most reliable things can break, tough luck...

Just remembered something. When I first built the pc, my cpu fan wasn't connected all the way so it wasn't spinning. I noticed the temp of 80 in the bios. This wasn't for long. I made sure the fan spun and was connected all the way. The temps were at 30-40 degrees. The computer worked fine for two more days, until ,what I assume was, the psu blew. My cpu isn't causing the problems, right? I would think if it was gonna mess up it would have been immediately after the fan accident. The computer had only been on for a for a few min, without rhe cpufan.
