ASUS M5A97 R2.0 build not booting.

I've recently bought components for a build, an ASUS M5A97 R2.0 mobo, AMD-FX 8320 and Corsair Vengance LP 8GB (2x4GB) but it won't boot. If I only have the CPU in it gives posts beeps that RAM is missing, all fine here, but as soon as I add RAM I get post beeps for a hardware malfunction. I would assume that would mean that there is a problem with them RAM but I've tried both sticks individually and I get the same result and I find it hard to believe that both sticks could be malfunctioning, also the memory LED doesn't stay lit which I take to mean that the detected memory is fine. I've already sent back the mobo and CPU to have them checked and both are fine. This is driving me f**king insane at this point, any help would be really welcome.

Cheers for the reply. When I sent the mobo and CPU back I was told they performed a BIOS update but I'll try flash the updated BIOS and see if it works. Again, thanks for the reply, really appreciate it and I'll let you know if it works.
