16GB 1333MHz DDR3 vs 8GB 1866MHz DDR3?

I currently have 16GB of 1333MHz memory in my rig from when I first bought it. Would 8GB of 1866MHz outperform my current memory or am I better off keeping what I have?

No, 16GB 1333MHz is better than 1866MHz. Perhaps, the frequency maybe lower when compared with 1866MHz but it makes up with 16GB of memory. Yes, you are better off with the existing memory.

is this for gaming or multi-tasking.?
if for gaming then I might sell off the 16GB kit and grab the better performing 8GB kit.
8GB's is all you need for gaming anyways.

my opinion.
