my other specs include a 1366x768 monitor, an Fx-8120, 8 Gb of DDR3 Ram and i want the upgrade from my HD 6770 card.

If you're buying in America, you can presently get a 7950 for just about $250 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202026&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=), if not, or if $260 is too expensive, the 7870 XT (which is itself a cut-down 7950) is an extremely efficient option and usually costs between $230 and $250.

Those are inferior to the current suggestions (660 Ti, 7950, 7870 XT), though they are cheaper. I believe that there is an XT available for around that price, however (one of the two PowerColor XTs, as I recall), and that would likely be a better choice.

Your monitor resolution is quite low, unless you plan on changing your monitor in a near future, a 250$ card might be overkill in your situation. If you think you'll keep this monitor for a couple of years still, you might be better served by a 150$ card. For instance, a 650-Ti or 650-Ti Boost, or a Radeon 7790 or 7850.

I would agree that the XT is a great option, but I wouldn't advise that particular XT. This Sapphire XT (http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AT-7870XT2&c=CJ) has a better cooler (the PowerColor XTs are infamous for running hot).
