Low firestrike score with 7950?

I seem to have a very low score on the firestrike extreme preset on my 7950. It is an msi 7950 that i very recently got, and i am getting a graphics score of around 2500.

My cpu is a 8350 and is scoring 8000 plus which seems about right. Is my graphics card faulty?

I got :

Graphics score - 6894
Physics score - 8382
Combined score - 2769

My gpu got up to 73 degrees general and on the vrm 1 and 2 it got 83 and 81 degrees respectively.
The cpu never went above 40 degrees. Do these temps sound ok ?
I am worried something is not working as my gpu exhibits an annoying clicky/electrical scratch constantly.

My graphics score (with one GTX 660 OC disabled) is: 5066
Physics Score: 7293
Combined Score: 1981

So, your faster single HD 7950 seems to be fine. As to the noise, it could be the fan rubbing. Check (with the PC off) if the fan hits anything during its revolutions. If the noise is "electrical scratchy" as you say, it may be the fan motor arcing somewhere. But I believe they are brushless DC motors tho, so there should be no arcing involved. Keep the room dark when the card is running and see if you see any electrical arcing where the noise is coming from.

The noise is almost like a very quiet version of a fly buzzing against a window, it sometimes pulses and other times is constant depending on what the gpu is doing it seems.
I could not see any sparks or anything with the lights off, but it is worth telling you that it does not do this when i am in the bios, only once i reach the windows login screen.
Could it be a windows problem? I have some windows issues in that i cant restart my computer from windows, i have to reset from my pc case which is very weird and annoying. Any ideas appreaciated thanks

I dont think it is the psu as the noise definitely seems to be coming from the GPU. The gpu does exhibit coil whine when in some menus so could this be related to that? Is there any way to fix it?

I dont think the 8350 has on board graphics, but I opened up the case and im sure the noise is coming from the gpu, with the case open it sounds like a hair is hitting the fan but I cant see one, and that wouldn't explain the noise coming and going. Could the problem still be psu related ? The pc has powered off 3 times randomly over 3 days so I guess it could be?

Also I ran fire strike again and graphics score went down to 6000 . I looked online and this is about 2000 points lower than other cards at the same clock.

So you think i should contact my psu supplier and ask for a replacement, i should still be in the return window as i only bought it a few days ago. Is there any way to check for sure if it is a psu problem without changing psu?

Hard to test. Any kind of voltage testing would show up normal probably until the 'glitch' occurs. And it would be so quick you couldn't catch it without specialized equipment. What is the make/model of the PSU?

That's a good PSU. I wouldn't think it would be the problem were it not for the symptoms you described. Shutdowns and re-starts are usually caused by a too small or too cheap of a PSU. Neither of which should be your issue. Another thing that can cause the PC to power down on its own is if the card was defective and causing the PSU to shut down. Since this sounds like a new PC that is still under warranty, maybe you should call the retailer and see what your options are.

Im not sure if the shutdowns where psu related or just me being silly with my overclocks is the problem ahah. I do sometimes get these weird messages in the bottom right of the screen saying Vddc voltage +0.5 warning or similiar.

Something i have just discovered about the weird noise, if i am doing nothing it will pulse, but for example if i hold down a key like 't' i will remain constant. This is also the case when i am moving the mouse. Additionally if i am watching a youtube video it will not make the noise, until i pause the video and change to another tab. Its hard to tell if the noise is coming from the GPU , or from the mobo around the bottom of the gpu and cpu heatsink area.

Well, if you've been overclocking, then the shutdowns might have a reason ;-)
Try this... Leave everything at default, no O/C ing the card or CPU. Live with that for awhile and see if there is 1) any noise and 2) if the shutdowns go away. A bad O/C can cause shutdowns too.

i resorted back to stock clocks after the last crash and so far (past 24 hours) there have been no shutdowns but the noises persist. I cant understand what would make a noise constantly and change when i scroll etc. It turns off sometimes under load etc. Very confusing.

The only reason i have not rma'd the gpu is that i cant tell if its the mobo , psu or gpu and dont want to have to pay 10 pounds if i rma and its fine :p

You could pick up a cheap GPU someplace like ebay and use it to see if the 7950 is the issue. Then sell the cheapie GPU again to re-coup some of your money. Or hang on to it for future testing. That's what I've done. I have several low cost components I've picked up that I know are working/good. I keep them just for testing purposes when I run into a build that won't run. But then, maybe I build more than most folks.

I have been looking at hardware monitor and noticed the voltages were lower than they should be maybe.

The 12v is at max 11.781
the 5v is max 4.87
the 3.3+ is max 3.18

could this be an indication that the psu is the problem or is this normal for a bronze + power supply?

I was getting those readings from hardware monitor. And i do think there is a psu problem. Hardware monitored a 12v reading of 2.246 volts!
The 12v normally runs at 11.73, but 2.246 volts screams problem to me.

I think i will rma both the gpu and psu as they each seem to have their own little problems, gpu is running far too hot at stock clocks (68 degrees in team fortress 2) and , well the psu seems to be broken. Thankyou for the help guys and for being patient!

it seemed quite hot to me, thats not much less than I get benchmarking . In benchmarks I go to 77ish . It does seem a bit hot as I have to have fans at 70percent at those temps which is like a hairdryer!
