Hi there,

Hoping to get help from experts here. My comp is running at 75C to 81C and can't figure out why so hot. Not running any major program ... just after turning on, I get temps in upper 60s, which quickly move to 70s and low 80s.

I have cleaned dust from graphics card and desktop. Also, cleaned and reapplied AS5 to heatsink. I am afraid of running GIS calculations (graphic intensive) because temps go up and computer slows down.

Bough a new heatsink fan ... but the #$@ pos pins won't go through. Simply cleaned and reapplied AS5 to old one. Had a 5C improvement but that is it!

Also noticed that the PSU gets very hot on the chassis exhaust ... do I need to change my PSU ... a 350W came with my Studio XPS Dell i7-870

Appreciate your help guys!

Ok, just tried a new PSU but no change ... still running temps of mid 70s and low 80s when browsing internet .. (no major programs).

What could it be?

My fans are running at 1800sh RPM (FANIN0 and FANIN1)
GeForce GTS240 fan is running at 35%
