Running more screens from anouther gpu

I am currently running a Hd 7870 with 2 screens hooked up. I am wondering if i could add anouther gpu (Hd 6870) just to run more screens off of it. I am not trying to crossfire them as i know that wont work.

Yes you can do that, just know if your psu will be able to handle it.

Why not just hook up more screens to the 7870? Should be able to do 3 or 4 no problem. I have four hooked up to my 7950. Should be cheaper then buying another card.

Right. But you buy a couple of active adapters for $30 each. It's an extra $60 if you buy two, but its still cheaper then another card. And you can run eyefinity if you want. Can't do that if two screens are on each card.

Just now i tried using my IGP (intel 4000) to run my extra screens instead of the 6870 to save some power, but i am getting some performance anomalys.
Ill probably give those adapters a go that way i have eyefinity as an option
