Is there a way to make my PC boots always from hibernation.
I want to hibernate my system once and then be able to run from the same hibernation image over and over again. Is that possible?

Hello moulham00

Your question is a bit tricky. What you ask for can be done (at least theoretically) however it may require some overhead every time you want to boot from the hibernation image. Here's what you can try:

Step 1 Hibernate the system at the state from where you want to boot the computer every time you start your PC.

Step 2) While in hibernation mode, restart the computer using any bootable disc so that the computer can start externally, i.e. without using the Windows files. (Suggested option is Acronis TrueImage bootable media).

Step 3) After booting the computer externally, go to C: drive (many times it will be displayed as D: drive when booted externally as C: drive will be the system reserve drive) and copy the...

Step 3) After booting the computer externally, go to C: drive (many times it will be displayed as D: drive when booted externally as C: drive will be the system reserve drive) and copy the file named 'hyberfil.sys' and save it somewhere else. ('hyberfil.sys' is the file that contains the image of the system state when the computer was hibernated.).

Now whenever you want to boot your system from the same hibernated state, you just need to hibernate the system normally, use the bootable media to boot the system externally and replace the current hiberfil.sys file with the one you saved earlier in Step 3 (which has the image of the system state from where you want to wake the system up).

Once done, you can then try resuming the system from the hibernation mode. It is likely that your system would resume from the state from the state that the saved 'hiberfil.sys' file contains.

Let me know if this works.

Is There a way to automate this? Would it be possible to write a script so that it always uses the same 'hiberfil.sys'
