I don't know if I need a NIC card

I have a As Rock z77 extreme4 motherboard on th way soon and before i order i want to know if i can just plug my internet cable right into the motherboard or do i need an NIC card HELP

all motherboards tend to come with atleast one integrated ethernet controller and port so you will be fine.

Ethernet ports have been practically standard on motherboards for the past 10 years. Practically all desktop motherboards manufactured in the past five years have on-board Gigabit Ethernet.

While I cannot say with 100% certainty that all retail desktop motherboards have Ethernet, I do not remember seeing any remotely recent boards without it.

On-board Ethernet is practically universal so most people do not even think of mentioning it anymore.

Unless you have a special circumstance where you would need a dedicated NIC card (and if you did, you likely wouldn't be asking this question) then your integrated Ethernet port will do fine.
