Im am wanting to upgrade my current rig to be able to play all of the next gen games like destiny, total war rome 2 ect and i believe i need to upgrade

Im currently running a
Intel core duo q9550
with a powercolor hd radeon 6870
650w PSU the rest of my rig is pretty much fine i just know ill need to change the mobo when i change the cpu

The problem im having is this
Shall i go Intel i5-3570k or AMD fx-8350

My budget is around £450-500

I know on single core the i5 wins but as you can see from this article
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-future-proofing-your-pc-for-next-gen

amd may be better for the next gen

also Im wondering if i should get a new powercolor hd 6870 and crossfire them for next gen games of should I just buy a single GPU like the hd 7870, will that be better performance.

If i crossfire will i have to upgrade my PSU?

Anyway rushed post sorry guys please give me some feedback

he already has a good psu and u can use ur old case and storage
and u have enough money for hd 7970 which is a very good card
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0074VVTPI/?tag=pcp0f-21
u can add a cpu cooler later and overclock the fx 6300 around 4 ghz to eliminate any chances of bottleneck

That psu will be fine. I still think the I5 is the better long term solution. Even though the 1155 socket is being replaced, the Ivy line will be around for quite a while and, IMO, offers a better bang for the buck long term.

Stick with a single card gpu solution and avoid the driver issues.
