I have a celeron 667mhz based pc, with 64 mb of scram (133mhz). This pc has a windows xp on it. I installed the os, but at the first start at the loading screen it reboots, and then i loaded the default config in bios. Since then it keeps doing that, and i can't run the xp installer, it blinks the prompt after loading the files forever. What can be the problem? :) My guess is something with the memory or bios settings, but i ran the memtest86, and after 1 loop it found zero errors.

The problem is that this system has never booted up to the login screen, and the restart happens immediately after the loading screen show up (with the xp logo, and a blue rectangle sliding under it).

One time i got a bsod, when trying to run the installer, and the error code was: 0x0000008e.

I google-d it, and it said it is probably a memory error, and i switched the memory with another sdram, and it didn't solve the problem.

Did you even bother to read the entire page?

2. In the dialogue present in the window which will result out of you pressing the F8 key, you will have some or most of the below options:

Safe Mode

Safe Mode with Networking

Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Enable Boot Logging

Enable VGA Mode

Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only)

Debugging Mode

Disable automatic restart on system failure

Boot Normally

Reboot

Return to OS Choices Menu

3. You will select the above bolded option “Disable automatic restart on system failure” to do what we also explained above, and disable the “Automatically restart” on system failure.

As It rebooting at the windows log on screen try anther video card or use onboard video. If not video issue it could be a power issue. I would check that the hard drive chipset set to IDE or achi if it a newer Sata mb and has it.on old mb and some os you may have to do f6 install and install the motherboard and video chipset.
