Hello,
I just bought the latest Skyrim legendary edition from Steam.
I was hoping to get it running across my 3 mons with nvidia surround, but no matter what I try It keeps giving me the message:

"Failed to initialize renderer. Your display doesn't support the selected resolution. Please set a different resolution in Skyrim's Launcher"

I have read many threads about this issue and no solution works for me.

My highest native resolution is 4320x900. I have edited the SkyrimPrefs.ini and added my res to iSize H/iSize W.

I have tried manually adding lower resolutions also, nothing i try works.
The game runs just fine on single monitor.

My 780GTX drivers are up to date also.

Has anyone got some things I could try.. Itching to play this game in surround.

force the game into Surround mode using the nVidia CP (control panel), then restart your rig.
I'm thinking you might need to change your ini file back to original settings first, that part I'm not sure.
upon restart try the game and report what happens.

example:
nVidia CP / Manage 3D settings / Program Settings / Select a program to customize...

At the time I tried a combination of restarts etc, although i'm not sure the comp was in surround mode during restart, I'll try it out after work and get back to you. Sucks because so far other games ie crysis 3 and have had no issues.
I'll let you know how it goes, thanks

Unfortunately for me that didn't work. I tried using a vanilla skyrimPref.ini file also with no difference.

really regretting getting in bed with nvidia with a high end card.. seems they are at the back of the race with multi-screen solutions

this is not a wide nVidia issue, this is more isolated anomaly.
I have Surround running in SLi and single card set-ups.

Yeh, i have seen plenty of Skyrim Surround vids on youtube to know it works.. Could be the 780gtx drivers are still to young to catch all issue.

The only other thing i can think which is causing a problem is that 4320x900 is simply a resolution that Skyrim is not compatible with.

I currently have 1 odd monitor out of my three (brand), and although it the same size, MonAssetManager shows them to have varying sync/timing/polarity, and as a result that is my highest common res.

I'm preparing to bite the bullet and buy 3 new matching monitors and try again on 5760x1080
If that doesn't work, i'm going to run around naked in the streets setting off fireworks. :)

I have a GTX 780 running Surround with no issues.
in the game go to the highest resolution you can go to, set it and then save.
exit out of game and then go back in, then go to resolution option and see if any higher resolutions are available then.

use the disk that came with the GTX 780, on it will be 320.11 drivers made especially for the GTX 780.
