Hey everyone :)

I'm buying new computer since this is quite old. So far i picked these parts:
MB - Asus Maximus VI Hero
CPU - Intel 4670K
RAM - G.Skill Trident X F3-2133C9D-16GTX 16GB (2x8GB)
SSD - SAMSUNG 840 PRO series 256GB 25/S600
HDD - WD WD2002FAEX 2TB 7.2/64M/S600 Black Edition
Have all other components from old computer.(TT Armor case, 750W PSU)

Problem i'm facing is living in EU/Slovenia and prices are higher than US.

Really can't decide on picking GPU, giving some examples on prices for GPU.
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD7970 Vapor-X GHz Edition 3GB 427,66 €
MSI R7970 Lightning Boost HD7970 3GB 513,36 €
SAPPHIRE HD7950 Vapor-X OC Boost 3GB 336,08 €
MSI GTX 770 Lightning 2GB 486,98 €
GIGABYTE GV-N680OC-2GD GTX680 2GB 509,70 €
GIGABYTE GV-N670OC-2GD GTX670 2GB 407,86 €

At this moment i'm leaning towards HD7970 from Sapphire because price for 770 is a bit high here.

Help me decide

Thank you :)

I agree with you, 7970GHz although it not as good as the 770, but still perform good for the price.
Pepca,
Do your place still sell radeon 6970, are they half price of the 770 price or in other word, 770 price...

I would say go with a 7970, and then crossfire them later on when you feel that you need more power. The 770 is a good card, but if you want to do multimonitor, amd is the way to go. Also, when you buy these cards, make sure that the cooling is sufficient for what you want to do with it.

yeah we need SLI while doing multimonitor gaming, otherwise a single gtx770 or hd7970 is enough. I love amd, but would go with the gtx770 bcoz. it's better than the hd7970 although the 7970 is cheaper.
amd cards in crossfire have microstutter issues and sometimes perform even worse a single one, amd should really start working on it...

The GTX 770 doesn't have a huge lead on the 7970.

The 7970 in CF doesn't scale well either, at all. From what I've seen.

Then GTX 770 scales better. Also just because GTX 770 is "next gen" doesn't

mean it's super good automatically. It still uses the same GK 104 GPU from 600

series GPUs sadly.

no, i didn't said that it comes with a 'super good quality' but is better than a hd7970 and has the same price.
and for the crossfire in future, are u ready to experience microstutter issues?

no offense, try to admit what is the best. i also like amd but that doesn't mean i will cover up their weaknesses and call the better card from nvidia not better. It doesn't makes sense. I htink u all are going with the hd7970 as it comes with 4 free games but 4 free games will not give the performance boost in future.

Side note, you can save a good deal of money by selecting a different motherboard. It doesn't appear that you will need any of the expensive features of the Hero. I just dropped it from my planned build and purchased a MSI Z87-G45 Gaming instead. What cooling are you thinking about for the CPU? If you're not thinking about that, then you can save even more by dropping the K Intel and going below Z87.

The odds aren't amazing for retail Haswell overclocking also, but you could be lucky. You need good aftermarket cooling, though.

8GB is solid for system memory as everyone else mentioned.

What model is this "old" 750W psu? I would be verify it supports the new C-states of haswell so your 12v rails don't become unstable and force the PSU into protection/shutdown when Haswell idles.

What games are you planning on playing and at what resolution? That should help with selecting a graphics card.

If the storage drive is purely for rarely accessed files, I would save money (and add capacity) by going with a non-black drive.

They are in the process are making crossfire a much more stable platform (drivers come out on the 31st of July that are suppose to remedy most of the problem), and if you read the OP's first comment, they can get a 7970 GHz Edition, for less then a GTX 770, and they get 4 free games. Plus the GTX 770 really doesn't offer much more performance at all over a 7970 GHz Edition. If you read the reviews on this very site they say that if you have a 7970 to stick with it as the 770 is not all that much better then the 7970.

Your second link isn't even a benchmark, but the first one confirms what I've been saying the whole time. The 770 is not really any better at all then the 7970. Save yourself the money and go with the 7970 from Sapphire.

no the second one is not a benchmark but a performance difference chart..
and by the way i told him to get the one that's cheaper, didn't u noticed? a cheaper hd7970 or gtx770 would be worth the money.
and by the way gigabytes hd7970 is cheaper than the sapphire's.

It's not even a performance difference chart, as that would be a benchmark. All that the link you posted states is technical specs for both cards, which those actually show the 7970GHz Edition as a superior card, and depending on pricing in his country the Sapphire may be the cheapest, also I don't know where your at, but where I'm at the Sapphire is almost $100 cheaper then the Gigabyte, and $50 cheaper then the cheapest 770.

Pepca,
Do your place still sell radeon 6970, are they half price of the 770 price or in other word, 770 price almost equal or equal to 2 radeon 6970, if so, then get it, it much better when it crossfire, it report have 0 issue when crossfire. If not, get 770 if you can, or 7970GHz(sapphire 7970 Vapor-X)-consider it is best price one.

Decided to go with GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-2GD :) (Radeon 6970 is gone here hehe)
Price is lower than Sapphire 7970 by 10% or so

Will also use computer for photo editing hence 16GB RAM, maybe also video in future
