Hello Guys,

The thing is that I was kinda facing with very strange and different problems with my PC lately. I started getting BSOD a lot, computer kept on freezing, very difficult to start after a cold boot as my computer keeps on powering off after the first beep and one day it wasn't even powering on. Since i have 2 Sticks of Ram (2 GB 1333 Bus), i removed one and turned on my computer which managed to fix the problems. So i thought that it was my Ram that had been damaged.

Took my PC to to the Computer shop where i bought my all the components from, to get it diagnosed, Also RMA the 2 GB Memory card as it is still in warranty, they checked the Ram on a different System which was working perfectly. Found that everything is working fine except for the motherboard which is screwed up. It turns out that i can only insert 1 stick of RAM on my board, if i insert more then one then computer wont start. They said that they even tested with different Ram and wasn't working. I also checked the Ram Slots which are working fine.

So the only solution the computer shop gave me is that to get a new board (since the as***** doesn't repair) which means also getting a new processor but i don't have that kind of budget since i wasted $500 on my power supply, Graphic Card, Casing and a monitor on this month. But for now i'm thinking of getting my board repaired but most of my friends suggests to get a new motherboard, as the old board will keep getting more damaged and may also damage my other components. So i'm really confused at the moment, any suggestions will be really helpful. Thanks.

PC specs:-
Motherboard:- Intel DH55TC
Processor:- i3 530 2.93 GHZ
Ram:- Corsair 4 GB DDR3 (2 sticks of 2 GB)
Graphic Card:- HiS 7850 2gb (Bought 1 month ago)
OS:- Windows 7 64 Bit Ultimate.

Wouldn't it be better if i grab a LGA 1155 Socket Board for the latest Generation processors? Although i would like to know whether its worth to get the board repaired?

And yeh, The Rams are placed on their correct slots.

1) You can't "repair" a motherboard, they are built in CLEAN ROOM enviroments, with machines that solder parts at precise measurements in the NanoMeter range of deviation.
2) If a memory slot is broke (shorted, burnt out, etc.) then buy a new Mobo, have you looked up that model Mobo to see about getting just the same model again?
3) Have you looked up other Mobos that support that CPU, and the memory you need to confirm the TIMING on it, if you put in the wrong TIMING the memory / Mobo can get fried again. Check the model # of the memory (simple google) and look for the specs on it, keep those handy, before you look for the new Mobo. Make sure the new Mobo can also handle those specs, or you may need to buy different memory as well.

With your cpu, you are stuck with having to get a MB with a Processor Socket 1156. If you get a 1155 MB you will need a new CPU, at the least.

There are places that will repair the MB. Back in th 90's I used to repair all sorts of boards using an oscilloscope to find the bad components. We live in a throw-away society, unfortunately. It is usually cheaper to just buy a new board.

I guess you guys are right, its not worth repairing the board. Might as well get a new motherboard in a month or 2. Thinking of getting a 1150 Socket board along with a latest 4th generation Processor. I don't want to risk my other components to get damaged as i recently bought a expensive graphic card.

Am really annoyed with the Intel Motherboard of DH series. Second time my board got damaged in two years. First was the problem of CMOS battery in which the board was completely replaced as inserting a new battery wasn't solving the problem and now this Ram problem.

I will definitely avoid buying the DH series next time. Anyways thanks for the answers really appreciate the help :p
