My computer won't turn on at all. It works just earlier but when I tried turning it on again it nothing happens. Nothing happens when you press the power button as in no fan spins at all. I would also like to add that weeks ago, my computer randomly restarts like it is unplugged(computer suddenly turns off, fans turn off, lights turn off) though it did not happen even once this week(not using the computer as much as weeks ago).

My guess would be the PSU. Also tried doing memtest but only did it for 1 pass and haven't found a problem. What do you guys think?
Really need a quick fix for this as I might be needing the computer for the following weeks.

Okay first off we talking desktop or laptop. You said computer and that can meen from a netbook to a Server. If your talking laptop did you try taking the battery out first, unplug power, count to 30 mississippi, then plug just the power back in and see what happens?

If it is a desktop, actually that can be any number of parts that died. PSU, motherboard, CPU all can cause the computer to fail to even boot (for example MOBO shorts out, you press the button, the MOBO doesn't tell the PSU hey turn me on). Based on the suggestion 'randomly restarts' you mentioned it sounds like potentially your computer was overheating (maybe full of dust bunnies, when was the last tiem you had it physically cleaned out?) and overtime you basically 'melted' the components they are dead.

I would suggest taking it to a Computer Service department and seeing what they come up with or buy your Geek friend a new Video Game and ask them to look at it. Most likely you will need to get your drive removed, put into a external USB case, and told to buy a new computer. You would be able (possibly) to access the old files (no programs or such) fromt he external drive, but it sounds like your computer is toast.

It is a desktop computer. Pretty sure it's not an overheating problem cause I researched when the "random restarts" happened and most said that the cause might be overheating or PSU problems, I checked my temps regularly and they we're pretty fine. Note that "random restarts" did not happen for I think a week before the computer went down.

Also opened the computer and checked the motherboard. It has lights on. Does this indicate that the problem isn't the PSU and lies somewhere else or it still might be possible that PSU is the problem?

If the PSU failed there would be no physical path for the electricity to power the MOBO light. So it isn't persay PSU failure. I said the overheat because MOBOs are programmed to shut down if overheating to prevent damage, so appears sometimes as 'random restarts' when it is the computer shutting down to cool off. If the computer isn't serviced for the issue (as you said you waited till it died before seriously addressing the issue) then it damages the chips on the MOBO (liek the BIOS that starts it up), the CPU, even the memory. While you can drag it in to get services, the last price I heard was a starting price of just $99 to look at it, not replace parts or do much (basically tell you it doesn't work) then add on extra costs like if a new MOBO, CPU, and memory would be $500+ when you can just get a new Walmart laptop i3 core off the shelf for $250 you can see how 'disposable' a system is when it dies. There is no "oh just press this and swap out that battery and it will be good as new" option unfortunately when it is this 'dead' and a desktop.

Well what about my information? Is why I said your best best is to just remove the Hard drive and put it in a external case to access it.
