Hey guys,

On newegg right now they have an awesome sale when you get both a new motherboard and CPU. I'm planning on buying the Intel Core i5-4670K along with the MSI Z87-G45 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z87. If i were to buy these what type of ram should I buy? And would I need to buy another windows 7 copy?

Hello,:hello:

Your motherboard supports "1066/1333/1600/1866*/2000*/2133*/2200*/2400*/2600*/2666*/2800*/3000*(*OC) MHz" Unbuffered Non-ECC memory. Maximum size per slot is 16GB. So any memory which come under this specification should be okay. Yes, you can go with 2133MHz as mentioned in one of the above post(newegg).

If you are not overclocking or if you do not prefer memory with Heat spreaders then you can try some Value RAM. Cheers.

Sites for Value RAM:
Kingston.com
Crucial.com
Memorystock.com
Newegg.com

On the Windows &, take your hard drive and just install it, Win7 should (think we have had 7-8 now do this at these forums in the last three weeks) see the new hardware, load the approprite drivers, then you load the latest drivers from the mobo web site, run a registry cleaner and go through the on-line activation for Win7, it generally will have you call them and a computer will walk you through and issue a new activation number

The license is at the discretion of MS and as stated, there have been a number of folks here at Tom's that have taken this route and been provided a new activation code with no problem or cost - MS has been doing this for years - regardless of what they advertise

The 4680K is native 1600 backward compatible to 1333, and is capable of running 2666 sticks and many up to 2800.
